Welcome to Placerville Seventh-day Adventist Church! If you’ve come across us through our health clinic or simply spending time in our building, you might be wondering: Who are Seventh-day Adventists?

We’re a global community of Christians who are passionate about knowing God, following Jesus, and sharing hope. Our name comes from two key beliefs: the importance of the seventh-day Sabbath and the promise of Jesus’ second coming—or “advent.” 

Our faith shapes how we live—rooted in the Bible, centered on Jesus, and focused on making it easy for people to know God.

OUR MISSION

At Placerville SDA Church, everything we do is built around this simple goal: making it easy for people to know God. Whether it’s through worship, service, teaching, or simply being there for others, we want to help people connect with God in a real, meaningful way.

A Perfect Start

We believe God created the world with love and purpose. His greatest creation? People—designed to reflect His love and to live in relationship with Him and one another. But love requires freedom, and God gave humanity the ability to choose. (Genesis 1:1, 31; Genesis 1:26-27)

WHERE IT WENT WRONG

The first humans, Adam and Eve, chose to turn away from God’s guidance. This choice introduced sin into the world—bringing pain, suffering, and separation from God. Since then, humanity has struggled with brokenness, but God has never stopped reaching out to us. (Genesis 3:8-11, 17-19)

A Relationship Built on Love

Faith isn’t about rules—it’s about relationship. God’s Ten Commandments aren’t just a list of do’s and don’ts; they’re a guide to living in love—loving God and loving others. (Exodus 20:1-17; John 13:34-35)

Why the Sabbath Matters

After creating the world in six days, God set aside the seventh day—Saturday—as a time to rest and reconnect with Him. The Sabbath is a gift, not a burden. It’s a time to step away from work, stress, and distractions and to focus on what truly matters: God, family, and rest.

At Placerville SDA Church, we celebrate the Sabbath from Friday evening to Saturday evening with worship, time in nature, and connection with others. Jesus honored the Sabbath, not with rigid rules, but by spending time with people, healing the sick, and teaching about God’s love. We follow His example. (Genesis 2:1-3; Exodus 20:8-11; Mark 2:27)

Talking With God Through Prayer

Prayer is as simple as talking to a friend. God listens—whether we’re sharing our joys, asking for help, or just needing peace. Sometimes we don’t get the answers we expect, but we trust that God is working in ways we can’t always see. (Philippians 4:6-7; Psalm 55:22)

And prayer isn’t just about talking; it’s about listening. God speaks to us through Scripture, through His Spirit, through nature, and through the people He places in our lives.

WHY HEALTH MATTERS

Seventh-day Adventists believe that taking care of our bodies is a way of honoring God. The Bible describes our bodies as temples of God’s Spirit—a gift to be cared for, not abused. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17; 1 Corinthians 10:31)

This is why many Adventists follow a healthy lifestyle, often choosing a plant-based diet, staying active, and avoiding harmful substances like alcohol and tobacco. It’s not about following rules—it’s about living life fully.

What Happens After Death?

We believe that death is like a peaceful sleep until the day Jesus returns. When He comes again, those who have died in faith will be raised to life, and together we’ll enter into a world made new—free from pain, suffering, and death. (1 Thessalonians 4:16-17; Revelation 21:3-4)

The Return of Jesus

Adventists believe Jesus will return, just as He promised. His second coming is the ultimate promise of hope—an assurance that pain, injustice, and suffering won’t last forever. We don’t know exactly when He’ll return, but we trust His promise: He’s coming back. (John 14:2-3; Acts 1:11; Revelation 1:7)
